Corporate Social Responsibility

At Hill Hofstetter we do work that we enjoy, in a great environment, with colleagues and clients that we like and respect.

It’s a privilege.  And with privilege, we believe, comes responsibility.  Responsibility to give something back to our local communities and responsibility, as lawyers, to promote justice and fairness: particularly on behalf of vulnerable people who may otherwise have no access to legal support.

All of our people play their part in our corporate social responsibility work.   Our lawyers can and do, lend their legal skills for free to “pro-bono” projects.  But when it comes to wielding a paint brush or a garden fork, or listening to a schoolchild read, our support staff play just as important a part in our activities and regularly give up their valuable time to do so.

Current projects include:

St Peter’s Community Centre, Hillfields, Coventry:  Our IT manger has installed a complete new IT system for the centre and provides on-going IT support.  Meanwhile our lawyers have also been providing pro-bono legal advice and support to this valuable local community resource.

The Gaydon Village Store:  We are supporting this local community initiative in Warwickshire, which aims to set up and run a local shop on co-operative lines.  The shop will provide an important resource for the village and aims to support local suppliers.   Our lawyers are providing pro-bono advice on setting up the co-operative, the shop’s lease and planning matters.

Petition in the High Court of Tanzania: We are providing pro-bono advice to a charity for Tanzanian street children on legal action to prevent the round-up and detention of street children in breach of their human rights.
